It’s a moment she thought she would miss.”Picking out a dress with your mom is what every girl dreams of,” said Allyson Wilt.Wilt’s mother Mary “Meta” McKnight-Wilt recently entered hospice.She has stage four colon cancer.Last Wednesday, doctors told her she may only live for a few more weeks.“No one ever dreams that they’re going to find the man that they’re going to marry and they can’t have their mom be there and help with everything,” said Allyson Wilt.“She had made the remark..I think it was the night before that she would never see her daughter in her wedding gown,” said Regina Wilt, who is Allyson’s grandmother.When friends told Serendipity Bridal and Events about Meta’s condition, they quickly stepped in to help.”Because you don’t know and if you put off too long then you end up maybe not having this moment,” said owner Janice Thomas.Allyson tried on four dresses, including her mother’s wedding gown. Meta gave her two thumbs up, when she saw the final dress.“When you saw the two thumbs up, how did you feel about that moment? Asked ABC7’s Anna-Lysa Gayle.“Amazing. Wanted to cry…break down,” responded Allyson Wilt.It’s the dress that Allyson plans to wear, when she walks down the aisle.A dress now filled with memories that she will hold on to forever.”When she started really going downhill, I was like..this is what I want. I definitely want her to be apart of it,” said Allyson Wilt.Allyson just got engaged recently. She is studying Occupational Therapy at Shenandoah University.
